Day Five – How important you think education is?

Day Five in the 30 Day Blog Challenge

How important you think education is?

In this economy the only things that gives you any edge in the job market is having a degree of some sort, and even then there is no guarantee that you can get a job.

I think it is important for people to continue their education immediately after high school.  The longer you wait the harder it will be to go back to school.  I know this from experience.  Even if you don’t get a degree that you can use, I think that just the act of going to college will give you experience that you need in the real world.

For those who haven’t finished High School I think it important to their future and to their personality.  Even if it takes you longer than others, having a High School Diploma is extremely important.  I think that you really do need the skills you learn in High School to function properly in the real world.  High School prepares you mentally and emotionally to deal with jobs, bills, and adult life.  In my experience, most, not all, people who have not graduate high school tend to have a harder time relating to people.  High school prepares you to be a grownup, if you don’t finish it, it is just that much harder to adapt to adult life.

Super short answer:  Education is super important.

My Idea of the Perfect Date

Day Three of the 30 Day Blog Challenge – My Idea of the Perfect Date

Wow this is a tough one.  Since the ideas are popping into my head randomly, I’ll just bullet them.

  • Hmm well first of all he would ask me if I was available (even if we live together) at least a day in advance. 🙂  I’m not a last minute kind of girl.
  • He would drive or provide transportation and open my doors for me of course.
  • He would notice how amazingly beautiful I look right away and say so.
  • He would take me to some sort of event we would both enjoy, a concert, show, festival, or whatever, as long as we both like it and neither of us is bored. I don’t want to do something only I will enjoy, it has to be mutual!  Even watching the stars would be fun to me.
  • Doing or eating something different is always fun.  I’d like to do something new and exciting so surprises are great

I don’t really think those things are too much to expect.  Of course fancy dates don’t have to happen often but they are nice.  I can’t really think of anything else to add!

My Favorite Song

Day One of the 30 Day Blog Challenge – My Favorite Song

I vaguely remember doing a post like this already.  I’m just too lazy to go check so here is another one.

My favorite songs change all the time.  Right now I have been listening to one song on repeat which is the acoustic version of “Hysteric” by Yeah yeah yeahs.  I love this song.  I reminds me of the love of my life, Bobby.

Unfortunately there is no video for the song but here is a user made one from YouTube.

For those of you who would rather just read the lyrics, here they are:

No Longer No Longer
What You Ask
Strange Steps
Heels Turned Black
The cinders the cinders
They light the path
Of these strange steps
Take us back, take us back

Flow sweetly hang heavy
You suddenly complete me
You suddenly complete me
Flow sweetly hang heavy
You suddenly complete me
You suddenly complete me

Oh oh aaayyy
Oh oh ayyee
Hysteric
Oh oh aaayyy
Oh oh ayeee
Hysterical

No wonder no wonder,
Other half, strange steps
Heels turned black.
The cinders they splinter
And light the path
These strange steps
Trace us back trace us back

Flow sweetly hang heavy
You suddenly complete me
You suddenly complete me
Flow sweetly hang heavy
You suddenly complete me
You suddenly complete me

Hysteric
Hysteric
Hysteric
Hysteric
Hysteric
Hysterical.

I just love this song.  Can’t explain it, it’s just wonderful.

That’s just the way it is…

…things’ll never be the same.

March 7, 2011 my William Bertram Brooks passed away. One of the most amazing people I’ve ever had the privilege to know. He was my grandpa and he was wonderful. I’m not ready to go much beyond this small bit of conversation about him but I am ready to write.

The world just isn’t the same and the sudden and emotional urge to change my life overtook me. College has finally won me over and come September I will be a full time student studying for my Bachelors Degree in Finance. But until then…

26 before 26 has become my priority and then some.

Object number one on this list is now to lose 100lbs by the end of August before school begins.

I have to do this and I have to do it now. Here we go.

Quickie in my bed

Obviously there hasn’t been a recent post so I figured I’d do a quick on from bed.

Since February 5 I’ve had 5 sodas. Not too bad considering I used to drink about one a day.

Since February 5 I’ve completed the following books…
48 Days to the Work You Love by Dan Miller
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

At this rate I’ll have a lot more than 15 books done.

As for the rest of my list…
Etsy shop is still up however I’ve been feeling uninspired lately and haven’t done much new stuff. I need to remedy that.
My house is staying somewhat clean and there are little changes I’ve been making that I’m enjoying.

Other than that I’m out. Haven’t done a lot else. I’m feeling more and more the goal of getting a promotion at work isn’t going to happen which hurts and upsets me but I’m working on getting over that. As far as weight loss, I lost 7lbs in 4’days which I attribute to the lack of soda. Unfortunately the working out thing has not happened and is at a stand still right now because I sprained my ankle at work on Sunday.

That’s it for now. I need to blog more!

Dear Whoever Reads This

No matter what anyone has said or done to you in the past, you are beautiful. You have gotten up after being hit, whether physically or emotionally, and for that I applaud you. Something as simple as your smile brings joy into strangers lives. Keep doing what you’re doing, and someone out there, someone like me, will keep appreciating you. Always smile big, laugh loud, spread love. Lord knows there isn’t enough people in the world doing it. You are one of those rare people who makes the world a better place by simply existing.

This is to those people who wake up in the morning, and their first thought is not about what they have to do today, or what happened to them yesterday, or what’s going on tomorrow. From the moment they awake they are worried about how to make the world a better place for you, for me, to live in.

These people never get the recognition they need.
Thank you for making the world a better place

I’ll always love you, regardless of anything at all. You are beautiful inside and out.
You’re doing something right.

*Found this somewhere randomly online.  I enjoyed it.*

PS: I’ve decided I don’t like Tumblr.  I like WordPress better.  So I’m back here.
